New Year’s Eve 2009 found Paparazzi Tonight at The Nines Hotel, one of the city’s most fashionable addresses. The Portland, Ore. hotel never skimps on style and welcomed 2010 with an Alice in Wonderland “Through the Looking Glass” theme. West Coast Event Productions decorated the entire sixth floor into a Wonderland bash that would put the Mad Hatter’s tea party to shame. We were all treated to grand-scale entertainment from local marching band MarchFourth. There were over 30 members in attendance, from stilt-walkers to saxophone and trombone musicians playing brass band swing numbers.
We made custom props for the night to help revelers get into the Looking Glass mood. The red queen’s sceptre was fantastic. We also had Alice’s “Drink Me” bottle, the red queen’s crown, my rendition of her heart shaped lips, Mad Hatter hats, Johnny Depp bows along with tea cups and pots as well as vintage picture frames.
Here are more of our set-up shots from the night. We were definitely channeling Johnny Depp that night. West Coast Events loaned us the giant queen chair…it was fantastic!
